Aside from getting proposed to, this is one of the highlights of this trip!

I remember when we had finalized our plane tickets and hotel, the next thing that immediately came to mind was that I NEEDED to score tickets to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, The Making of Harry Potter wow that's a mouthful in Tokyo! I immediately checked out Klook to reserve a ticket on one of the days we will be in Tokyo. Lo and behold, all AUGUST 2023 dates were fully booked! Mind you, this was in June 2023, 2 months before our actual trip!

Iyak malala!

But then, I remember, Corazon did not raise a quitter for a daughter! For sure, Klook isn't the only platform that sells tickets, right? So, I checked other similar platforms like Klook, unfortunately, I was faced with the same fate, no more available tickets for the dates that we will be in Japan! But before I could continue my ugly crying in the corner, I decided to go to the main source, which is the official website, and see if they still have open slots for August. Luckily, they still have it for the week that we will be visiting, BUT it's so limited! I quickly signed up on the site, whipped out my credit card, and prayed hard that this boldness of mine would be favored by the Gods.

Oh, I forgot to mention: the website is in Japanese and without any English translations!
Just imagine if I accidentally booked August 19... 2024 hahaha!

Arigathanks!

I was definitely favored by the Gods! The payment pushed through, and I was able to secure the tickets! Now, I can breathe hahaha!

Fast forward to the actual trip!

Getting there was relatively easy. I remember we took a train from Shinjuku station going to Nerima, where the Harry Potter studio is located. Once you arrive to the nearest train station, you'll spot A LOT of lamp post ads and other out-of-home (OOH) wow as a marketer tayo dyan haha! collaterals scattered all around to assure you that The Harry Potter studio is nearby and that you INDEED got off the right train station. After about 300m, you'll see a HUGE billboard of the golden trio from the Chamber of Secrets era, and from there you just follow the path.

Before entering, you'll need to secure your e-ticket with the QR code to be able to scan your way to one of the turnstiles- Yes, no need to bring a paper copy of your ticket. Once inside, you'll see this HUGE Hungarian Horntail, and a place where you can store your valuables. From what I remember, you're not allowed to bring big bags hence they encourage those who brought backpacks to store it in the lockers. Also, upon entering they'll offer you an earpiece guide (like those in certain museums) for a fee. Unfortunately, during our trip all English guides were already depleted 😓

No Turkey leg tho :(

The lounge area where you can wait for your entry time OR rest your feet after the tour.

An important tidbit: The tickets are timed, which means you can't just enter the tour area whenever you like. When we visited, our entry time is scheduled at 4:00 p.m., so despite arriving at 2:30 p.m. we'll have to wait until our time to be allowed inside.

Good thing we have enough time to wait, because we used that to grab a late lunch in their restaurant. The restaurant offers a variety of meals, from Italian like spaghetti to British Fish and Chips. We ordered the pasta and some ribs; it was good but kind of expensive-something to take note if you are planning to have a meal here.

The first thing you'll see is this hall showing all the Harry Potter posters. There are also posters from different countries like China and South Korea. It really feels nostalgic seeing them again after years of not seeing any Harry Potter poster in the cinemas 😥

I'm not going to spoil a magical part of this tour, but to give a little snippet, the transition going to the great hall was magical! Once in the great hall, you'll see a lot of costumes of beloved characters and props used during filming.

The Harry Potter Studio tour feels like going to a museum, where every detail about the world-building and even the technical parts were divulged. It was separated in different parts, from what's inside Hogwarts, even to the other magical places in the world of Harry Potter like the Ministry of Magic and Diagon Alley. Every area is painstakingly accurate! If you love taking photos and imagining that you are a Hogwarts student, you'll definitely enjoy roaming around every corner.

Aside from the whole tour being an amazing backdrop for cosplaying as a Hogwarts student, there were a lot of interactive activities to try! For example, In the potions classroom you can take a video as if you're stirring a cauldron by using your wand to manipulate the spoon or sandok? My favorite activities were taking a video as if we were in a moving picture, and the other one was being part of the audience from the iconic Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Quidditch match!

In my breakthrough role hahaha!

New career! HAHAHA!

Another cool area of the studio tour was the backlot which has the #4 Privet Drive, Hagrid's hut, and the Knight Bus! It's cool that you are allowed to go inside the Dursley's home and see that tiny room below the stairs where Harry grew up in.

Also, the backlot also serves as a rest area where you can buy snacks or enjoy a glass of Butterbeer ☝ Is it the same taste as the one sold in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Yes! But the glass they come in (which you can also bring home) is different vs. the ones from the Wizarding World- If my memory serves me right, I think the ones here sold in the Studio Tour is cheaper vs. in Universal Studios.

The finale was the huge Hogwarts diorama that you have 360-degree access of. I remember Ken even tearing up when he saw this hehe! I promise, this part is so majestic!

A couple of steps from the diorama is the HUUUUUUGE shop where you can buy a ton of Harry Potter merch! Is it the same merch as sold in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios? Actually, no. It's different, and they even have MinaLima products like stationeries, books, postcards, and posters! They also have Tokyo exclusive merch like tote bags and hoodies!

We capped it off with some drinks and treats from the Frog Cafe (which was quite pricey, but meh, YOLO! HAHAHA!).

Like I have said earlier, this is a highlight from this trip! I have been a fan since I was 8 years old, and to be given a chance to see this and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter are things I have only dreamed of! Truly thankful, indeed!

Here's wishing and ✨manifesting✨ to see other notable Harry Potter locations in the future!

Love always,
Nicole ❤

Inspired by this meme going around about a player in Hogwarts Legacy that got sorted to Azkaban, since it would have been too nice for the sorting hat to place him to Slytherin *hingaaaa ang haba ng intro*, I present what could be a possible autobiography title for me... And well, this post is about this café we went to in South Korea.

943 King's Cross is a vaguely, yes, vaguely Harry Potter-inspired café in Hongdae. It's not that hard to spot it when you are already in the area, since it's a 4-storey building with a facade that makes you feel you'll be passing through Platform 9 3/4.

The first thing you'll see from afar is this huge broomstick that looks just grotesquely huge hahaha!

Upon entering, you'll immediately see some Harry Potter-esque dark academia themes, such as vintage books, candelabras, newspapers as wrappers of boxes, portraits that look like it came from the victorian era housed in ornate frames, and some corked bottles to imply that a corner is an apothecary. But prior to checking out the different levels of this café, you must order at least one drink first.

Different levels have different themes, like the one on the 2nd floor is supposed to be The Great Hall, where there are 2 looooong tables and smaller tables scattered on the floor. On the tables there were ornate candelabras, and other themed clutter like a small gramophone, and old books scattered everywhere, giving a lively ‘there are students here’ feel.

On the 3rd floor, the theme is Gryffindor common room, where this café converted wooden bedframes into tables. Sadly, I wasn't able to take photos of it because I got so excited seeing some of the robes and hats that I can use to 'cosplay' as a Hogwarts student.

It would have made perfect sense if they had an actual fireplace because at the time of our visit, it was freezing sans snow, but I guess an actual one would be hard to maintain- I don’t know, we don’t have these back home hahahah!

Potions anyone?

Of course, here’s a photo of the food. Since we are very indecisive about what to eat. “Do I want cake?” “Am I too hungry for a heavy dish?” “Ohh bread!” are some of the thoughts that run through my mind while reading the menu. Eventually, we decided to get this platter and 3 Butterbeers, which are actual beers!

What you see here are cherries, nachos, fries, fish nuggets, a Turkey leg, and the best pineapple we have ever had! It's so sweet but not too sickly that it ends up tasting like candy- until now, I am still salivating at the thought of it 🤤

I was pleasantly surprised that the Butterbeers are under the alcoholic beverage category since I got used to the ones sold in Universal Studios, one with soda and buttery foam on top. With regard to the taste… ehhh, it’s ok I guess hahaha! It’s not too strong, and the butter complemented the beer, making it smooth to drink.

Come to think of it my outfit that day was on-point with the Harry Potter theme, I was wearing a long black coat, shirt & sweater, and my trusty Hufflepuff scarf hahaha!

The staircase has these eery Victorian paintings that felt as if they were watching your every move. None of these paintings has any imagery of known Harry Potter characters, because they are not really licensed 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Then there's this little nook which I think is supposed to be a scary dementor.

The basement feels like a tavern, but once again no actual Harry Potter items hahaha! Also this is where they sell alcoholic drinks. As much as I want to try a cocktail or two, there were no bartenders nearby 🥹

That's it, pansit! Hahahaha! It's a good experience for a Potterhead who wants to take photos, get a bit drunk, and bond with like-minded peers ✨

Love Always,

Nicole

Can you believe it, it's Christmas time once again! Before we know it we are already in 2019! Since we are living in a world that revolves around consumerism, what better way to show your love to people, than by giving them gifts *yey!* In particular, what are the best gifts can you give to a potterhead-aside from the limited edition 20th year edition of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone, of course 👌

Sooo, last Friday while walking aimlessly at the mall, I stumbled upon Typo. What is Typo, you asked? It is an Australian store that sells a lot of quirky items, predominantly stationery, accesssories, and even tiny home wares. Typo have had a couple of collabs with amazing pop culture brands/series, like The Simpsons, and even Star Wars. I'm not sure if this is their first time to collab with Harry Potter, but it's definitely my first time to see Potter-themed items in their stores. My heart is hyperventilating with happiness, basically.

These pouches would make a good make-up bag for the kikay potterhead, where they can store their wand-like brushes for easy touch-ups.

At a glance, I thought these are cute beanies, but after flipping it over, tadaaaaah! These are fluffy Hedwig blankets! They are so lush, and actually perfect for lugging around in airplanes-Just in case you don't have the energy to apparate ☝

This one is pretty cool. I thought it was just a simple journal, but when I opened it, it's actually a book light! You can also charge it via usb, so it is pretty nifty, I must say 🖒

You see, Typo is a pretty expensive brand, so if you are not ballin' with all the Galleons your heart desires, they also carry these cute enamel pins, and earrings! I think these range from Php 299 to 400 🤔

For the tea-loving tita Minerva McGonagall of your barkada! Aside from this Hedwig mug, they also have those color-changing mugs that start off with the default Hogwarts insignia, but after pouring hot water, it reveals which house you are from!
💙💚💛❤

This may look tiny, but I think it can hold your wand, a quill and ink, some timy pieces of parchment, a small tube of Felix Felicis, and coin purse for your Galleons.

This one I really really reeeeally want! This is like magic, only with a help of a little Science. I forgot how much it was, but I am certain it is more expensive than the book light... huhuhu.

Aside from Potter-themed items, they have plenty of items that your friends from other fandoms will still appreciate! I don't know about giving gifts to my Potterhead friends, but I am pretty sure where I'll buy gifts for myself hahaha!

Love Always,
Nicole 💖
