A little break from all the Japan content!

After 7 years, I have finally bought it! Siri, please play Lizzie McGuire’s What Dreams Are Made Of!

To be honest, I have no plans of buying any bag for a year, considering I just purchased a Polene bag last September 2025 (I might blog about it, IDK hahaha!) and it wasn't exactly affordable. But for some reason, during one of our bumbling sessions with my colleagues, we touched upon a topic that I enjoy talking about - Dream bags.

It's fun to know different bags and researching about how they look, then eventually adding it to your own list of dream bags. As I grow older and wiser, I have started appreciating quality over quantity. I'm not saying that I only buy designer now, because unfortunately, we are not yet at that tax bracket, but I understand the importance of buying a good quality bag that will last you years, vs. buying trendy dupes that will only last you a year before they start disintegrating.

How my Parisian brands end up after a year of daily usage.

During our chit-chat, I mentioned that I have always wanted to buy a Senreve Maestra bag, but it's too expensive for my budget. I think it was in 2018 when it became famous- Tumblr famous, even! Aside from seeing it worn by influencers, I have also grown fond of how structured yet pretty it looks; the more I see it, the more I want to have it someday.

Who would have known that someday would be December 21, 2025?

Because of my curiosity about how much the Maestra bag costs now, I decided to check Senreve's website, and guess what? THEY HAVE A MASSIVE SALE!

The mini Maestra is sold for $195 vs. $825! That's almost 80% off! Basically, the universe is telling me to buy it! HAHAHA! and so I did!

Initially, I was thinking of ordering it, have it sent over to my sister's house (she lives in the US now), then when her mother-in-law come visit and goes back to the Philippines, I could ask her to bring it with her. While it could have saved me around Php 1,000+, I figured I don't really want to hassle anyone to bring a bag with them, and well, I'm too excited to wait until January 10 for it to arrive hahaha! Ending? I placed the order and have it shipped to my address here in the Philippines.

The whole online shopping experience was a breeze, and after 5 minutes, I had already received confirmation about my purchase. I used my local bank credit card, and the payment has gone through. There's also an option to pay like $5 dollars for shipping protection, which I availed being neurotic ain't cheap. I think I paid around $210+, which already includes taxes, oh, and free shipping for orders worth $200+, so I did not add another layer of payment.

Now I wait for it to arrive 👌

Senreve’s courier is DHL, and in fairness, they give updates daily! I admit I was very anxious when I got a message that it’s currently being screened at customs, considering the horror stories of being imposed additional taxes before they would release the item. Luckily, I was not asked to pay additional taxes or fees, and by December 26, my bag had arrived!

The bag is well-packed inside an unassuming box outside, but the inside is pale pink and pretty.

"Inspired by women who do it all"

Things about my mini Maestra bag that I love:
💓 The leather! I got the one made from Mimosa leather, so it was a little stiff, perfect for maintaining its boxy form. Also, it's already textured, so I don't need to be scared about scratching it.
💓 It doesn't have any loud logos.
💓 Anti-Thief! Hahahaha! I mean, you could also look at this one negatively, but I find it funny how it's not easy to open! Aside from the front metallic clasp, after flipping the flap, you still need to unzip to fully open the bag!

Like I've said, I have no plans of buying any designer bags-or any bags at all for this year! I would love to get my money's worth by using them as much as I could, but if the opportunity and money come knocking for a Loewe puzzle bag in moss green in my future, who am I to say no to that, right? 😉

Love always,
Nicole!

Just a little diversion from my Japan blog and life in general, let me talk about some of the bags I gravitate towards whenever I travel, which I think could help a soul or two in figuring out which ones they should bring to their trip.

(2025 Nicole here, I originally have this in my drafts file since 2023! But despite that, I still feel whatever "insights" I had 2 years ago remain the same 💁)

I am very fortunate to be able to go to South Korea, China, Thailand and Japan for the past 2 years, and during these trips I think I paid a little more attention to the bags I bring with me. Not to brag, but during the pandemic I did accumulate a couple of mid-range designer bags (pre-loved, of course!), and now that we are slightly out of the woods I would like to flaunt 'em!

To cut it all short, let me share a thing or two about some bags I 100% believe are travel-friendly- and adding some dupes as well!

1. Marni Hobo Bag

Yes, let's start it strong with Marni! I am not quite sure about the exact name of the hobo bag I have, but this is definitely one I will bring with me to any trip I will have in my life, Ang OA hahaha! Usually, my go-to option is a trusty old backpack, but due to how much of a hassle it is to get travel docs and snacks from it as a tamad girl I opted for a roomy hobo bag instead.

PROs:

💓 Despite it being made of leather, it's very light.

💓 The color makes it easy to pair with anything- I don't know how, but most of my outfits work well with this bag.

💓 It is legit roomy! I can put a 14" laptop + 11" iPad + Nintendo Switch without any fuss!

💓 Durability 100%!!! I have brought this bag in almost ALL of my trips in the past 2 years, and it's still going strong despite the fact that I got this 2nd hand!

CONS:

💔 It doesn't have any structure, and there's basically only 1 pocket/compartment. Without any contents, it's quite flappy haha!

💔 Speaking of structure, when you use this type of bag the tendency is your stuff will be swimming around your bag, making it quite a hassle when you need to look for something. This bag will make you want to buy a bag organizer PRONTO!

💔 While I mentioned that this is durable, I still have some qualms with regard to its type of leather. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it's not waterproof. In fact, if you drop water, or God forbid alcohol which HAPPENED ALREADY, It leaves a mark or stain 😖

💔 Since this is a 2nd hand/pre-loved item, I don't think they sell this design anymore. If I'm not mistaken, I assume this style is from waaaay back Marni circa 2013 (?)

DUPES:

2. Manu Atelier Cylinder Bag

Very on-the-go bag!

Cylindrical bags need more spotlight! Aside from looking like baby duffle bags, surprisingly you can fit a lot of items! You wouldn't believe if I tell you that I managed to bring an umbrella, a huge-ass 20,000 mAh powerbank, an instax camera (with 1 extra film), phone, wallet, and a snack inside this Manu Atelier bag! This Cylinder bag comes in different colors, materials, and sizes, so if you're on the more petite side you can get the xx mini size ✌

Quick background, Manu Atelier has a rich legacy from Istanbul, where the founders are daughters of one of the oldest leather manufacturers in Turkey. Aside from the Cylinder, they have several chic designs with price range of around $400-900 a piece.

PROs:

💓 Leather is buttery soft yet scratch resistant.

💓 The Caramel Brown color is very versatile and could complement a lot of outfits. Also, I think this bag is the perfect day-to-night bag where you can wear it casually during daytime then dress-it-up at night.

💓 It can fit a lot of stuff! I have a lot of things inside my bag, from wallet, phone, instax camera, a snack, and even an umbrella! It fits without any fuzz!

💓 Easy to pack! Since it's made of soft leather, I have no worries on whether it'll get misshapen when I smush it inside my luggage.

CONS:

💔 The gold hardware is kind of heavy. I actually tried using a different strap/sling for it, and I can assure that the bag itself is light, but the hardware is a different story.

💔 Speaking of hardware, after hours of using it as a crossbody or a shoulder bag, the strap tends to put quite a strain on the shoulder. Perhaps it's because of its chain-type strap that's why it kinda felt it's digging on my shoulders.

💔 Price point: To be honest with its quality I think the $500+ price tag is justifiable, but I remember a couple of years ago they sell this type of Manu Atelier bags for only $300+ only 😓 Hence 2nd hand/pre-loved market is the way to go!

DUPES:

3. Strathberry MC Mini bag

Now this one is my ultimate favorite bag, I use this both during travels and even in my daily life-to the point I am already calculating how much I need to save in order to buy myself a replacement considering how much I abused this! Strathberry is a Scottish brand BUT each piece is beautifully crafted in Spain! A lot of famous women (including HRH Princess Catherine!) have been sporting Strathberry bags over the years, so rest assured this brand packs in the quality and style. Similar to the Manu Atelier bag before this, don't be fooled by how 'small' it appears because it can definitely carry all the essentials and non-essentials HAHAHA!

Aside from practicality, the design is just 😘👌 It's pretty unique that I can only recommend 1 dupe and it's not really that affordable lol sorry.

PROs:

💓 This is the lightest Strathberry bag I have! I think the biggest culprit to the weight is the chain, which this bag doesn't have.

💓 The unique design! You can wear it for both casual and dressier occasions.

💓 You can fit a phone, power bank, a thin wallet, and an Instax Mini 12 cam inside.

💓 Its boxy shape gives it structure, so you sort of feel more put together when you use this. Also, packing this in your luggage is easy breezy since you can just fill it in with anything to retain its shape.

CONS:

💔 I don't think they sell the MC Mini style anymore 😕 But you can still buy it pre-loved from sites like Carousell or The Real Real.

💔 The material is not scratch-resistant, although I'm pretty sure it's a different store IF the bag is made from pebbled leather. Anyhoo, if you see my bag you'll definitely spot a ton of scratches.

💔 Strathberry is starting to get pricey if you wish to buy one brand new. If you want to buy in-store here in The Philippines, you can only buy it in Rustan's and their designs are quite limited.

💔 Also, as I have mentioned their other designs (because of their heavy but good quality chain straps) tend to be on the heavier side, so choose a design without the gold chain if you want a light bag.

DUPE:

Just one, and that is the Cambridge Satchel The Music Case. However, since it is marketed as a unisex bag, Cambridge Satchel doesn't have all the yummy pastel colors Strathberry has. Quality-Wise, Cambridge Satchel is top-notch but their leathers are quite stiff.

4. Ferragamo Vintage Gancini Bag

Ah yes, my grand dame of all the bags I own. This Ferragamo Gancini bag has been with me FOR AGES! I'm not sure if this is my mom's or my grandma's hand-me-down, but this bag has been with me during the happiest and saddest seasons of my life hahaha! I usually use this as my carry-on bag since it's actually easy to open and close, and roomy enough to bring my essentials and some small snacks. I swear, if I win the lottery tomorrow one of the things I will buy first thing is a Ferragamo Hug bag, because Ferragamo bags last a lifetime!

I think if I want this to last even my future daughter's lifetime, I should probably bring this for a restoration because of the scratches on both the bag and the hardware 💥

No more pros and cons, if you manage to find a vintage Ferragamo Gancini bag at a friendly price, don't think, just buy it!

I couldn't agree more!

And that's it! Basically, I just rambled on about different bags and what items you can fit inside hahahaha! Hopefully, dear reader you'll be able to find your own version of The Best Travel Bag!

Love Always,
Nicole

Something I should consistently do on a yearly thing is collate the artworks I did for the year. Aside from it will be easier for me to look back on what I did, it’s also easier for me to see how I have improved on and give myself a pat in the back.

Recently, I’ve been toying on the idea of reviving Class Act Ph and learn how to edit & make videos in my spare time- by spare time meaning I’ll be lessening my social media scroll time for more productive moments! Who knows, I might even start posting in this blog every week this year 🥹😂

Anyhoooo, let me present all the artworks I have created in 2023 in no particular order because Blogger doesn’t want me to post my photos in the order I want 🥴

1.  THE MARNI

Ok, quick story on this artwork: When I posed this in my Instagram account I immediately received a message from an email claiming to be from Marni that they even end up sending me a ‘contract’ for their influencer campaign hahaha! After reading it I immediately deleted it and blocked the email address. It’s simply to good to be true to fall for it, y’know 🥹 But hey, who knows perhaps someday we’ll be able to work with the real team behind my favorite brand *manifesting* ✨

2. PURPLE SKY

3. AUTUMN IN TOKYO

Something I would love to experience once again is spending autumn in Tokyo, Japan! Well, come to think of it I just want to spend all year in Japan- and yes that includes their scorching summer season ☀️

4. NYC FALL

As inspired by the pumpkin spice girlies out there, I created an artwork reimagining a corporate girly out for a quick pumpkin spice latté run in between meetings in New York City. I don’t understand the buzz with pumpkin spice, though because it tastes so much like a dish and not complimentary to coffee- wait, are pumpkin spice lattés infused with coffee or just milk???

5. DALAGANG PILIPINA

Modern Filipina in Filipino colors. I was supposed to draw a Neil Felipp Minauderie bag, but I got lazy lol.

6. YOR IN ACTION

The first of many SpyxFamily artworks I did this year, most of them still stuck in the drafts folder 🥲

7. ALICIA

8. SUMMER IN OSAKA

As I have mentioned above, I would love to spend the a whole year in Japan even during the hottest and wettest time of the year: August. I imagined my dream outfit during Summer there to look like this, and yes complete with a Loewe x Studio Ghibli collab puzzle bag 🫰🏻Once again *manifesting* ✨

9. JUST WANNA SAY HELLO 🖐🏻

It’s been years since I have last drawn a guy! Before my peg for the guy was Daniel Radcliffe as Hrry Potter, complete with the glasses and sweater hahaha! Times have changed hence now the peg is a generic white model in Uniqlo 🥹🤣

10. THE WEDDING

My first foray into drawing a wedding dress 👰🏻‍♀️ I used a couple of different brushes to create that glittery glow look, then used a couple of layers to do the veil.

11. SEEING DOUBLE

A little POP look. I drew this while I was waiting for Ken while he was shooting the premiere for Ant-Man in SM Aura last Feb. 14, I also remember earlier that day I briefly spent time with Aiza and Trizia after sending our requirements for South Korean visa- Luckily we got the visas and we’re able to have our trip their last March.

12. SLOW DANCE

Drawing a dream bag = *manifesting* hahaha! I have been into Danse Lante Phoebe bags since 2021, and was able to acquire 5 bags already! The next one I want is in this blue and white colorway ☁️. Also, I remember drawing this thinking of what I would have worn if I was able to nab those highly coveted Taylor Swift Eras tour in Japan in Feb. Unfortunately, after so many attempts, the universe did not let me win this time… oh well 🥹🥹🥹

13. BUKAS NA LANG

Back then I remember how I would love to do typography and calligraphy once I have acquired an iPad Pro, lo and behold I was able to do one after 2 years of owning my unit! Also, I did this after a stressful day at work hahaha! What a motivation 🤷🏻‍♀️

14.PETIT BRIDE

As we grow old our preferences also change, and that includes the type of wedding gown I want. When I was younger, I really want a gorgeous princess ball-type gown with all the sparkly beads ✨ But nowadays, considering how expensive weddings tend to be, and how I don’t want to spend much on a wedding dress, I’m more into short chic dresses that feels more retro than regal.

15. YOR IN 21ST CENTURY

What Yor Briar would have looked like if she’s the same femme fatale in 2023.

16. OLIVIA

17. GINNY

18. AIRE

One of the fun things I have done this year was aerial hoop, and it was a pain in the ass, literally. Similarly, aerial silk is an activity that will leave you with bruises! I have also tried aerial silk once in Beast House here in Kapitolyo, despite how difficult it is to balance and lift yourself with a fluid material, it’s a challenge I would like to revisit this year- If I have extra funds 🫡

19. CRYBABY USAGI

20. APOLLO SKIN

One of my milestones in 2023 was the Apollo Wellness Camp Event last April, where we invited some influencers to a day of fun and wellness with Apollo Skin Solutions! Supposedly, I wanted to design a set of stickers to be given away during the event, but I wasn’t able to manage my time and only able to make one only.

21. WE DON’T LIKE BULLIES.

22. I PLAY TO WIN 🐰

Yes, Overwatch 2 sucks but I still can’t get enough of playing it hahaha! I have tried Valorant several months ago, but it doesn’t entertain me as much hahaha! I have yet to try APEX and see if it’ll be a game I’ll add in between my rotation of Sims 4 and Overwatch 😂🫠

23. WILLOW

I started drawing this piece since 2021, and only in 2023 when I have gained the motivation to actually finish it. I had quite a hard time coloring the wood details, I even wanted to opt using a wooden finish brush, but it just feels wrong.

One thing I could probably do next are Taylor Swift artworks based on her numerous Eras- I am looking at you Red Era hehe ❤️♥️

24.  GRATEFUL HEART

24 artworks in 2023! I am proud to finish 24 artworks in a year considering how jampacked the year was.

So what’s next? Aside from plans of finishing a lot of drawings in my drafts, doing more Taylor Swift Eras-inspired artworks, and do more calligraphy, I want to relearn the basics in terms of drawing in different perspectives, right shadow placement, and proportions, and then eventually be able to create more vivid backgrounds to fully create a story instead of just a look 🫰🏻

It was a fun-filled creative 2023, and hopefully more inspiration and opportunities come our way this 2024 ✨

Love Always,
Nicole

As we all know the fight against Covid-19 is far from over, and with that we wanted to fight this battle- in a pretty way.

Last year, me with Class Act PH, and my friend Patti of Tita Pacita collaborated and created GIRL WORLD which is a collection of fun and quirky earrings that we launched on the most cheerful of time of the year, the holidays. We received amazing feedback and love for our collection, and with a few pairs left, we decided to sell these, and use part of its proceeds to help out our brothers and sisters who need provisions in this trying times.

The following earrings corresponds to specific donations, since as much as we can we wanted to help many people as possible. Lastly, as Patti puts it, "Making these earrings gave us joy, and so we want these pairs to give you a pretty reminder of your contribution :)," even the smallest of help counts ♡

For more details (e.g. how to order) you may check out titapacita.com/shop ♥ Also, we do have a couple of designs aside from this that are already sold out, but we can accommodate for special orders until April 30th.

Happy shopping, and remember, 'No help is too small' 🥰

Love Always,

Nicole 💖
