Don't bring Kate Spade bags when travelling, they are insanely heavy huhu

Same goes to my Tokyo outfit check blog, this is my way of keeping tabs of my fashion faux pas, as well as a way of looking back at how old my clothes have been with me (good quality clothing, reprezeeeent!)

Day 1

OOTD:
> Coat : B+AB
> Shirt : H&M
> Jeans : Levi's
> Sneakers : Adidas
> Bag : Kate Spade

It was quite a chilly January, that's why I opt for something that will definitely cover me up. Believe it or not, I had that B+AB brown coat for almost 6 years and only once did I bring it out of town! What's even more amazing is that I got it from Ukay-ukay for roughly Php 50 or $ 1 only!

Thank you, Ukay-ukay
Basically everything I am wearing,  down to that very Kate Spade bag was discounted, I mean, who in their right mind would buy something in full price???

I blame watching too much The Nanny for having a stronger conviction against buying stuff sans the discounts.
One of my favorite discounted purchase was my Levi's jeans, which originally was sold for Php 2,500.00, but I got it for only Php 1,000 during my Tokyo trip. That's a good Php 1,500 I have saved, and was better used in buying more pasalubongs!

Day 2

OOTD:
🌸 Plaid Coords : No brand, bought from Vietnam
🌸 Blouse : Pilfired from my sister's closet
🌸 Shoes : Payless
🌸 Bag : Kate Spade

For our day 2, it was actually colder than the first one, and yet here I was with my favorite short coords. The temperature back then was around 15 degrees Celsius, and for some miraculous reasons ...

IT ME
I wasn't wearing any thermal wear inside! I felt completely at ease walking around wearing this ensemble, however things have changed on the 3rd day.

Day 3

OOTD:
❄ Hat : Brixton
❄ Sweater : Random find in Hong Kong
❄ Jeans : Forever21
❄ Sneakers : Adidas
❄ Bag : Chat Chat

Yup, on the 3rd day I began to question my life choices. Given how at ease I was wearing that light coords the day before, I have undermined that whatever temperature this day will bring, the need to bring a jacket won't arise. Oh boy, how wrong was I!

ME ON TOP OF LANTAU
Clearly I have underestimated how cold it is on top of the mountain. I remember while we ascend to the top of Lantau riding the gondola, I start to 'un'-feel my back! Apparently the gondolas were not airconditioned, and instead they have those tiny ventilations that basically reminds you that nature dictates the temperature of the inside of gondolas, and not the management of Ngong Ping 360.

It doesn't help either that my knees felt sooo cold hahaha! Why was I not with right judgement to wear my levi's again, then bundle up with atleast a simple shirt underneath? I really have no idea what past Nicole had in mind back then.

 Day 4

OOTD:
👑 Coat : B+AB
👑 Dress : Ukay-ukay
👑 Shoes : Payless
👑 Bag : Kate Spade

Since I was petrified with the idea of riding a ferry, I figured I should compensate with a fancy outfit that I really feel good wearing. I also had in mind back then, that if I die because of heart attack at least I am wearing a good outfit that my ghost version wouldn't mind wearing for all eternity hahaha!
I deserve a slow clap, or a standing ovation would suffice.
Aside from the morbid idea of making sure my ghost outfit is good, I have also taken in consideration that I'm going to the fancy schmancies of Macau, so I think I should AT LEAST give some effort- or so I think I did.

Like most of my 'interesting' clothes, I got my priest-collared dress from Ukay-ukay. I remember when I saw this dress, I was hesitant on buying it at first, because I have a LOT of black dresses already, and I don't think I'll be visiting THAT many funerals in my life- lol jk lang uy I need a lot of black clothes in my life. But for some reason this brought me joy, so I ended up buying it.When the time comes that I have already laundered this, I have discovered how it fits so good with my body! Past Nicole did a good job in using her judgement in this one.

Day 5

OOTD:
💭 Blazer : Bought from Vietnam (part of the coords)
💭 Sweater : H&M
💭 Jeans : Levi's
💭 Shoes : Adidas
💭 Socks : Mumuso
💭 Bag: Kate Spade

I'd love to call this my 'balikbayan' lewk, and I don't really have any logical reason behind it. This outfit is perfect for going back home, especially when we're already on our way to the airport, lugging heavy luggages- but once again, this Kate Spade bag is the most impractical thing to bring to any travel.

Special Mention

Ah yes, the most iconic of them all.
Basing on the greasy hair bundled up, this lewk was thrown in a jif so we can have an early headstart with our shopping. I haven't taken a bath at that time yet, but good thing it's so cold I did not break a sweat- but still, always take showers, ok?

Aaaaand that's it for my Hong Kong trip-related blogs! It's always nice to travel during cold seasons because I get to experiment more when it comes to layering, although it is pretty costly for the baggage allowance 🤷‍♀️ Oh well, we'll see if I still have this mindset on our trip next Feb 2020 🤗

Love always,
Nicole

I suppose it's never really over hahahaha! Just kidding, this time I promise this is the very last for the Japan 2018 travel blog of mine! Di ako maka-get over huhuhu

Most of my blogposts were focused on the places, and experiences, so I figured why not do a blogpost featuring all the outfits I have worn during that trip! I figured I need a quick reference to look back whenever I would want to cringe at my sartorial choices 😂

Ok, let's begin, shall we?

Day 2

Hahaha!

Let's start with my favorite one from this trip! This is my 2nd day outfit totally disregarding my 1st day outfit because I look so worn down that day he he he., and I remember what I had in mind back then was, 'how am I going to wear this skirt without looking too wild?' I then figured, 'what the heck, YOLO, let's wear this with all the garments I love, YAHOO!' Hence the coat, and the boots! 😂😂😂😂

👘COAT: Stradivarius (my sister's hiramhiram din pag may time)
👘TURTLENECK: H&M
👘SKIRT: Forever21
👘TIGHTS: SM Dept. Store
👘BOOTS: Payless
👘BAG: Burberry (Given by my grandma)
👘EARRINGS AND ARIEL PIN: Class Act Ph 😍

Day 3

Dramarama sa hapon
Basically majority of my garments worn here were purchased during my Vietnam trip last September. For some reason, despite this day being at the latter part of October, it wasn't as chilly that day as I was expecting, hence the coat hanging lazily on my forearm. With that, it was also the perfect time to wear this blazer and skort coords, because the material of the coords are actually lightweight and I figured if it's cold that day my legs would definitely freeze. Also, I was vying for a preppy modernized Englishman look here, naks 🙌

♡COAT: Stradivarius ule
♡COORDS: Random store from Vietnam
♡SHIRT: Chatuchak Market, Thailand
♡BAG: Chat Chat, Hong Kong (gifted by Ate Lot)
♡SOCKS: Uniqlo (got it for Php 90 hahahha!)
♡SNEAKERS: Adidas

DAY 4

My outfit for this day is the most unplanned of all the clothes I wore, but I remember being fixated with my desire to wear my D.Va shirt that day! Luckily during our 1st day, I was able to score this Pink midi crushed-velvet pleated skirt at GU for the grand price of ¥100! Yessss, just Php 50!!! With that, I ended up buying another one in red for me, and then bought colors Blue and Yellow for my cousins as pasalubong.

♤COAT: Ukay-Ukay hihihi
♤SHIRT: Uniqlo
♤SKIRT: GU
♤BAG: Chat Chat
♤EARRINGS: Class Act Ph
♤SHOES (Not pictured): Adidas
DAY 5

Focus on me, not on Imman. He dressed like a slav here tho.
Another must-do I have kept in mind is to wear tights during my trip to Japan, because this is the only time I can use them, since I won't be able to use them here in Manila you know, our country is as hot as hell. There was a time in my life where I would hoard all the fancy tights from Forever21 that were on sale, always thinking of putting together a Blair Waldorf-esque outfit, only I looked more of a confused Asian 'pa'-Kawaii girl instead 🤔 With that, what better way to make use of these article of clothing than to wear it to the most fashion-forward place in the universe!

... but yeah, I kinda cringe right now. Shouldn't have worn the white tights beneath this one 🙈

🐵 COAT: Stradivarius
🐵 TOP: Chatuchak Market, Thailand
🐵 SKIRT: Esprit
🐵 TIGHTS: Forever21
🐵 BOOTS: Payless
🐵 ARIEL PIN: Class Act Ph

DAY 6

Finally we have come to this one! My only goal for this one is to look Kawaii 🐽😍 The cute tights are actually a gift from my lovely friend, Hannah, who bought this in Japan a few years ago. Since we are heading to Disney Sea, I opt for an outfit that will keep me warm, because it was quite chilly that day (and Disney Sea is located near open waters so gets, it's cold), hence I wore this thick corduroy-like blue dress and my trusty lightweight black coat-yes, this coat is very light, don't be fooled by the fur.

As for the bag, my tiny backpack is the best option, because I don't have to fuss about having something slinged on one side of my body 😂 and hey, this bag had served its purpose by snuggly accomodating my necessities such as powerbank, phone, wet wipes, a chocolate bar, lip and cheek tint, and a book 🤗

◇ COAT: Ukay-ukay
◇ DRESS: Ukay-ukay
◇ TIGHTS: Gifted by Hannah
◇ SHOES: Adidas
◇ BAG: Burberry

I did not add Days 7 and 8, because I didn't even bother asking to be photographed those days hahahaha!

Oh it me, basura girl!
With all these outfits I shared, I actually learned a thing or two from wearing them! And these are the lessons:

1. Comfort is king!
In choosing what you'll be wearing, always opt for clothig that will enabke you to move without restrictions-and this is a big deal when travelling. Imagine wearing something really pretty, but you always have to pull and tug a riding skirt every single minute! Or wearing heels, but getting blisters every step you take!

2. Research on the weather, and culture of the place you are going to!
Travelling to Japan in late October means you'll be welcomed by a chilly 10° to 19° celsius weather, so if you are not used to the cold ,and you are not like Elsa, learn the art of layering-or simply buy some thermal heat tech clothing you can wear underneath your outfit. As for the culture, since Tokyo is one of the fashion capitals of the world, be as crazy as you can be!-except maybe if you are expected to go to temples and formal places, dress accordingly.

3. Invest in a good outerwear!
Rather than bringing a lot of coats with you (and filling up your luggage allocation that could have gone to food instead), just bring 2 classic coats or jacket, and your are good to go. Invest in a tŕusty trench coat in a camel color, because believe me a lot of things look good paired with this staple piece.

Like this one from Uniqlo!

4. On a budget? Ukay is the answer!
I don't know where did people get the notion that Ukay-ukay (or thrift shop clothing) pieces are taken from dead corpses! I mean, would someone wish to wear a bright emerald Blumarine lacy dress with the tag still intact during their funeral? Hmmm I don't think so. For those people who have hygienic concerns regarding clothes from ukay, the tip is to wash it with hot water, a half cup of vinegar, and good ol' Tide and Zonrox color safe 🤗 Shopping in Ukay-ukays is fun because you get to buy stuff that are unique, and sometimes you can even score designer brands that are hardly unused! You just have to have your eyes peeled in harvesting diamonds in the rough.
Hmmm might do a blog about this soon!

5. Wear whatever will bring you joy!
Conscious that people will judge you regarding your sartorial choices? Well, people will always say stuff, so might as well clash those prints, wear faux fur, don't follow the fashion book, and just wear whatever will make you happy! Believe me, you'll have better memories wearing fun things that brings you joy.

And that's it! I promise this is the last of the Japan 2018 travel series! Pramis, last na talaga, wala na din ako mapipiga! Now, I shall look forward to the next adventure-which I won't disclose para kahit ako ma-surprise! 🤗🤗😲

Love Always,
Nicole

Heaven is a place on Earth- Tokyo to be exact!

Ahhhh Shibuyaaa!

The more I write about Japan, the more I am falling for it! Indeed it is true, the more you talk about something, the more your heart yearns for it- That's what I do with my work now hahaha! Now, I just can't help but fall for Japan from afar, still wishing to go back soonest (September please come sooner!).

But for now, let's settle in creating more memories from this Pensieve of a blog, shall we? Sooo, 3rd day in Tokyo was a fairly simple day jampacked with good food, shopping, and organized chaos.

Reptar?

🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖

I highly recommend getting a place in Sumida, because everything is a stone's throw away to the best places in Tokyo. Upon checking AirBnbs nearby, Sumida has the 'friendliest' price for travelers on a budget, so I suggest people to stay there and be able to see this majestic thing- Although this one is in Shinjuku haha!
HAPPY PLACE 5EVER!

Given that we really didn't have a concrete plan of what to do that day, we aimlessly go on window shopping, until everyone agreed to go to this huge-ass Muji in Shinjuku.
Blurry coz in a hurry

Busy aketch.

A bite of Heaven PLS! 🍓🍓🍓

I know for a fact that Muji has everything, but I was kinda #shooketh when I found out that they also sell appliances! But Idkman, I still find Muji too over-priced even when I was already in Japan. I just don't see or get the premium of getting something in Muji, since their stuff are much more expensive than un-named brands- but there is an exception to my slight distaste of Muji, and that is this mochi icecream with a strawberry in the middle. THIS IS A MUST BUY! THE ONLY THING YOU SHOULD BUY IN MUJI!

ULTIMATE FAVORITE RAMEN IN THE WHOLE GALAXY!

A trip to Japan will never be complete without a quick visit to Ichiran. As usual, there was a looong queue, but I swear it is worth it! We had our Ichiran in Shinjuku after leaving the huge Muji store with just a piece of Mochi Icecream on my hands- Yes, dessert first before the good stuff.

I figured that Shinjuku perhaps is one of the main shopping hubs in Tokyo, because now I realized why we went there, and it was because Imman's mom wanted to buy pre-loved jewelries and designer labels, because they are much more affordable in Shinjuku compared to in Manila. While they hunt for the Bvlgaris and Louis, I headed to the ultimate art heaven. Check out HERE my crazy 10 minute shopping spree at the mothership of all art stuff, Sekaido... oh and HERE for the loot that I got there ✍️ ✍️ ✍️ ✍️ ✍️ ✍️

Since we got separated by the core group, me, Julz, and Jhude took a train going to tita Emily's house, where we were treated with amazing home cooked Japanese food. I don't think I'll ever have a better Takoyaki in my life aside from the one she prepared for us! There really is Tako in her Takoyaki, unlike the ones here in Manila, where you have to go for a search party to have just a tiny piece of Tako in your ball! 🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙

Cutting the whole narrative short, we ended up going to Shibuya that night, just so we can see how crazy the crowds were when they crossed the famous crossing (hah sabaw). Some people might find it too touristy, or cheesy, but I actually loved every minute of it because it reminded me of the movie Lost in Translation! I absolutely love the chaotic yet orderly flow of people, even though I've been trampled by a group of people wearing Pokemon character costumes- But hey, being trampled in Japan is the best hahaha! 🤪🤪🤪

I know this ending sucks, so let me make it worse by sharing an OOTD photo of that day *wink*

Cap, Blazer, Skort all from Vietnam| Checkered Polo from Thailand| Trench Coat from Stradivarius| Bag gifted by my cousin (but from Chat Chat Hong Kong)| Socks from Uniqlo| Shoes from Adidas ... #YesBloggerLang hahahha! 😍🤩

Love, Always!
