Yes guys, just when you thought my Japan travel is done, oh nope we are just in the middle! Hahahaha!

Beautiful Yokohama 👏 (Photo from Imman)
Aside from Tokyo proper, we ventured somewhere a little calmer compared to all the craziness of Tokyo, and that was Yokohama. Yokohama is 1 hour away from Tokyo via train. But before we really went there, we first head to this park which is...

Which is a bummer, because I was excited to see blooms that day! But oh well, we move on. Oh and I saw these:

Not sure if all train stations in Tokyo has this lovely little corner where you can try out this stamp, but I hope they all do! This is perfect for those who do Bu-Jo 👌

Anyhoo, rather than get sad and mushy about not getting into this pretty park, we proceed to Setagaya for some magical lunch, but first...

A quick look at the nearby Village Vanguard, where I spotted a new flavor of one of my favorite Japanese cookies, Country Ma'am. P.S., to those in Japan now, can you get me a pack of Country Ma'am cookies? I'll pay when you get back hahahaha!

The main purpose of visiting Setagaya is to try out this out-of-place curry restaurant called Magic Spice. Upon entering the restaurant, you'll feel as if you're not in Japan because of its heavy Indian accents everywhere. The specialty of this restaurant are yummy curries, but unlike the usual Japanese curries, the one they sell here are more of Indian-style curries, with more liquid-y soup compared to the thicker consistency of Japanese curry. Also, should you ever feel like braving the challenge of getting a spicy one-which I tell you is very spicy, you might as well opt for a yogurt drink to bring justice to your burnt tongue.

I handcarried this in the airplane on our flight back home wahahahaha!
After wrecking havoc in Magic Spice (because we wolfed down to the very last morsel of food in our plates), we have finally reached the chill town of Yokohama. Unlike the busy streets of Tokyo, people are relatively chiller here. It somehow reminds me of Fukuoka's Marinoa Outlet, but that's probably because of the huge ferris wheels they both have. But before we proceed to the Yokohama Landmark tower, we head first to the Queen's Square mall to buy some knick knacks at Tokyo Hands, and Flying Tiger.

Ohhh by the way, just a quick chat about Flying Tiger, Flying Tiger is a Danish brand that sells cute stuff at a very affordable price. Flying Tiger is like the marriage of Typo and Miniso, because you get to buy cute decors, fun accessories, and awesome socks (no joke, their socks are superb), but minus the hefty price tag. I was able to snag this nifty earrings holder, which I use for Class Act sales, and guess what? These retail for around Php 250 only! Not bad!

Once you go outside of the mall, you'll see this mini amusement park that are fashioned in candy pastel colors. Aside from seemingly harmless rides (they are not as innocent as they appear), and dessert shops, there's also an arcade somewhere you can waste your ¥ 100s to! Hahahah! 👌👌👌

Yeah, there's a Pirates of The Carribean-like ship there, very casual, no big deal.

Finally, the Yokohama Landmark tower! In order to get inside the tower you must pay the ¥1,000 admission fee. Even though we were just treated to this (thank you Mr. And Mrs. Riddle ☝👏) I think it's worth every cent, because the view at the top is breath-taking 👌👌👌

That mountain silhouette at the left side is the Mt. Fuji! Sugoi ne 👏

Look at the big carousell!

Me.

The night time view is as splendid as the one in daytime! It's really nice to go here near sunset, because you get to see Yokohama (and nearer places in Tokyo) 360 degrees!

Photo pilfered from Imman.

Aside from doing the main activity, which is to observe, there are a lot of things you can do at the top of the Yokohama tower. You can shop for small trinkets and postcards, you can buy banana flavored ice cream, and you can have a professional artist create a caricature of you and your loved one. The quality of the artworks are so cute, which I think justifies the hefty price tag. But hey, you can't really put a price tag on good art ☝ Since I am poor, we didn't avail this wahahahah!

After seeing the 360 degree view of Yokohama, and felt a bit hungry, we decided to go down and check the mall again for great finds, and the Disney store for our Disney Sea tickets. We stumbled upon this Lego store that sells these Harry Potter Lego sets that are waaaaay more affordable than here in The Philippines. But since I did not really allot a budget for that, I went out empty-handed 🙃

Finally, dinner tiiiime! Given that the whole family can't decide where to have dinner, we all ended up in Shake Shack, which is a good opportunity for us all to try it out. My verdict on Shake Shack? It's good, I like it, but I think I got hyped up from what I have read from the internet that it did not live up to my expectations wow Nicole ha, wow! Hahahah! But hey, it's pretty good! I would still recommend it for others to try it out- especially now that it's available in Manila! Yey! 🍔🍔🍔

After having dinner, me and Imman got separated from the group because we had to hunt for the nearest Disney store so we can buy our Disney Sea tickets for the next day. Eventually on our way back home, we almost got lost, but also find our way back-what an adventure.

Basically, that was it for Day 5! Yokohama is a pretty town, and it should be a part of everyone's itinerary when they come visit Tokyo soon!

Adios!

Love Always,

Nicole 🙊🕊
