One random night I got bored that I decided to filter out and finally cleaned my email. Lo and behold, I saw an email about this website that give a lot of people the chance to try out a product, then they can do a review about it. Rather than mind other people's business, I decided to try out and see my luck if I'll get chosen as one of the reviewers for this!

👌👌👌👌👌

...and yes, with that let us now proceed with the review of the Maybelline Made For All lipstick 💄💄💄

THE MAYBELLINE MADE FOR ALL LIPSTICK

Photo from Huda Beauty website HERE

The Maybelline Made for All Lipstick is available in 7 different shades that are meant to flatter ANY skintone. Upon filling up the questionnaire from the Try and Review website, they let you choose what shade you'd like to try out. Since I don't really like wearing dark red, or very strong colors on my lips, I decided to be a bit of a risk-taker and tried out the Plum For Me color numero 388.

1. PACKAGING
The packaging of this lipstick is pretty similar to other solid form lippies of Maybelline, like the Color Sensation line. This could be both a pro and a con, pro being it creates a consistent image for this kind of lipstick for Maybelline, while the con is this Made for All lipstick line might drown in a sea of Color Sensation, Powder Mattes, and etc., which in that case how will we ladies be able to differentiate this particular line from the others? As for the strength of the packaging, given that I am an extremely clumsy fella, I have dropped this for a solid 5 times since I received this package last May 7 (currently writing this May 13), and so far no cracks or any signs of giving up ☝

2. CONTENTS
What I like about majority of Maybelline's cosmetics is that they have a lot of product in their packaging. By the looks of this tube, I can see this will last a good 3 to 4 months of daily use. Your Php 299 will definitely go a looong way with this bad boy 👌

3. SMELL
Another thing that I have noticed with Maybelline's recent lines of lippies are they smell better than other drugstore lipstick brands that are currently available in the market. Just like the Super Stay Ink liquid lipstick, this smells like candy, but not the fruity overwhelmingly sickly sweet kind. In fact this reminds me of a milky kind of candy, though it still have hints of the usual waxy smell, but it is tolerable and it is much better than BYS' lippies, which smells like Crayola and plastic-not a pleasant combination 🙊

4. PIGMENTATION
I tried swatching this first on on my wrist (as seen on the photo above), and weirdly enough it looks sheen and glossy. Sure, this is not a matte lipstick, but this isn't a lip gloss either. Sure, you can see that with just one swipe you'll see the color pay-off, however I have noticed upon application on my lips, you need to have atleast two full coats to really see how plum it is. Not sure if this will apply to lighter lips, but for someone with dark lips, it takes two swipes of this lipstick to evenly cover the color to my lips.

5. FORMULATION
Obviously this lipstick isn't matte, instead it's more of a satin creamy type. I had no problem applying this on my lips, since it's pretty creamy, it glides like a butter on my lips sans any tugging; Unlike butter, this doesn't crumble or slush easily- but of course, unlike crayola this isn't that solid, so pleeeease lock this up away from the kiddies. ALSO, I find this easy to blend, since I usually only bring one make-up product with me for touch-ups, usually a multi-purpose item like lip and cheek tint, I tried using this on my cheeks as well. Lo and behold, this plum color gave me a flushed 'drunken' look, not bad, but I don't think Maybelline wants us to use this as a blush hahaha! 🤔

6. STAYING POWER
Oh boy, this one's a problem since it reminded me why I don't use dark colored lipsticks. After applying this color on my lips, it immediately triggered my anxiety; Anxious that I might transfer my lipcolor to everything I hold dear! To give this some slack, mattes are more known to be transfer-proof, but I think they can push this one further and do something about it.

Excuse the face, please focus on the lipcolor.
SUMMARY
Let me do a rundown of my reviews with an old fashioned Pros and Cons:

PROS
1. SUPER MOISTURIZING! I didn't use a lip balm prior to applying this lippie, but the formulation of this lipstick still locked in the moisture, which made my lips soft for quite a while.
2. PIGMENTED! When I tried doing a swatch on my wrist, at first I thought it's too glossy sheen, but when I swiped it on my lips it was more of a satin finish, no specs of glitter.
3. Creamy candy-like smell.
4. The amount of product in each tube can last you for a long time. Unlike other lipsticks, this one doesn't give you a 'bitin' feeling. I think 1 tube can last you a good 3 to 4 months even if you use it everyday- including the re-touches!
5. The product is easy to apply, since the consistency is pretty creamy but not too soft that it'll crumble. I did not experience any tugging shen I spread out the color all over my lips.
6. Easy to blend. I know it is not really advisable to use lippies for other makeup purposes, but I tried using this one as a cheek tint, and whooooa! The Plum for all gave me this fresh glowy flushed look when I smeared it all over my cheeks. So I suppose this is a good 'must have' in every bag that I use in the daily.
7. The packaging appears to be sturdy. I dropped my lipstick, and in fairness the casing did not break. Pretty nifty for clumsy gals like me.

CONS
1. It's hard to cover the inner lip part, or like the 'waterline' of the lips with this. I understand that this is a satin-y cream consistency so the color may not be as 'sticky' as mattes, but it sure would be lovelier to have this kind of lipstick that can also cover the 'waterline' part.
2. As much as I love the pigmentation, I do hate how this is not a transfer proof lippie. It kind of reminded me why I hate wearing dark lipsticks, because if it isn't transfer proof I end up transfering my lipcolor everywhere... don't ask me how, I don't know hahaha!
3.limited shades. Although the claim that it will fit all skin tones, I still feel that they could have pushed for more colors. It would have been nicer if they added some deeper brown colors (which is lovely for both dark and fair skinned ladies), or even nude shades with some old rose flair.
4. Sure it is pigmented, but I feel that you must do 2 swipes to fully get the expected color-especially for girls with dark lips.

Not really a con, but more of a suggestion:
1. It would be nice if the lipstick, aside from being moisturizing, it also provides spf and sunprotection :)

AND THAT'S IT! Thanks to Try and Review for this! For those who are interested in trying and reviewing products, check out their website HERE

Love Always 😍,

Dear my future child,

Today is May 13, 2019 which means it is election day, particularly for a new set of senators, local government leaders, and a partylist. Given that election usually falls on May, it falls on one of the hottest days of summer, and summer in The Philippines is often unbearable. But no matter how hot and sticky it may feel to go out, fall in line for hours, and be crammed into tiny 'precincts', do not lose the will to do your civic duty.

Yes, it's not just a right, but it is both a privilege and a duty to vote for the future leaders of our nation. This freedom to choose you are enjoying is the result of our brave countrymen's sacrifices, so you better do something wise about it, hence to vote for the right people who will champion what will be beneficial for the whole nation. Vote for those who value honesty, hardwork, and compassion, do not be lured by those who give out promises that are just too good to be true, most often than not those tend to be just empty promises. Vote for someone who uses their voice for people in our society who don't have voiced

Should the future, the present you are living, isn't as good as what we are fighting for right now, please don't be apathetic and think that nothing good will ever happen. Do not lose hope. Goodness will always prevail, but it still needs work, grit, perserverance, courage, and hope for it to happen. So please, my dear, go and vote. Your vote matters, I'll just be here to guide you.

I love you.

Sincerely,

Your mom circa 2019.

If I win the lottery the first thing I'd do, aside from collect my winnings of course, is to go to the nearest bookstore and buy ALL the books my heart desires-and my heart desires A LOT! But even if I haven't won the lottery (yet ☝), I was able to feel like a million bucks when I have purchased amazing titles from the last National Bookstore Warehouse Sale *woot woot*
Books are investments, and no, I don't have a problem 🙅
I remember the loooongest receipt I have ever had was during the book grab event I was fortunately able to joined. That event was by FullyBooked, a Filipino chain of bookstores, where they handpicked people who sent out entries where I was luckily picked to join. During that event I have gotten around Php 50,000+ worth of books! Hence the reason why our bookshelf contains 80% of my books, and just 20% of my sister's. That was one dream that came true 😍

Anyway, we are obviously being steered away by the main purpose of this post, which is a show-and-tell of the books I have bought in a significant price slash. You see, National Bookstore, the rival bookstore of FullyBooked in the Philippines, usually has these massive book sales which enables a lot of Filipinos to stock up on amazing titles.
Nuff said
Their most previous one, the Great Warehouse sale (which I have also blogged about HERE), which happened last March was a feast for bookhoarders bookworms like moi. But what's good about this sale was the fact that they did not only sell books but also school supplies, and that includes art materials-I'll get to that in a bit. Soooo, wothout further ado, let me share my haul to inspire everyone to go to the next booksale with meeeee😍 damay damay na ituuuuu 👍

Big chunk of this haul goes to kids' books! For those who don't know, I have the most lovable 4 year old niece, Julianna, to whom I am trying to influence my love of books.

My mini me
Since it's here moving up day in her school the next day, I decided to gift her with books! Lelssss para ma-justify yung ginastos.

This is actually the first book I saw amongst the myriad of children's books that time, and I remember being instantly smitten by it because of the beautiful art style done in this book. Original price was around Php 300 to Php 400, but was able to score this for only Php 70+!

I think originally this was around Php 300+ as well, but got this for less than Php 100

From Php 450 to Php 100+

Not sure about the original price, but I got this for only Php 33! 😨

Pretty sure this is around Php 120-ISH

Around Php 120-ish as well

I, for a certain moment, was actually thinking if I should keep the Alice in Wonderland for myself! Wahahaha 🙃🙃🙃🙃 I mean, the art style done on this illustrated book just sparked one of my #lifegoals, which is to illustrate a children's book! Since I have already read this as a young kid, perhaps it's time to introduce Julianna to this lovely tale.

I am a huuuge sucker for fashion books, so when I found out that there are also fashion coffee table books scattered around for me to loot, my heart (and bank account) were #shooketh. One particular book that I have always had my eye on was this Map My Style activity book, which I find quirky, informative, and slightly pricey. But lo and behold, from its original Php 300 to 450+ price tag, I got this for less than Php 100! Such a steal, indeed 😍

From Php 890 to Php 60, I kid you not.

Now, now this one has the most ridiculous price slash amongst the goodies I have acquired. This book is originally priced at Php 1,290, which is a norm for fashion books to be honest. Since I have always had this vision of acquiring a lot of fashion books then have a sprawling collection of fashion reference in the future, I am always on a hunt for books like this. At first I thought probably the lowest price this could get would be around Php 200+, oh but noooo! I was wrong, thank God! Believe it or not, this book is only Php 7! I kid you not, this book is basically a giveaway already! 😂 Who am I to say no to this???

Drumroll pleeeeease! Amongst my purchases, this is my most favorite! The last time I bought coloring stuff was last October during my Japan trip, and since then I refrained from buying anything else given that I haven't really used up all my tools recently. But my art material spending dryspell had come to a quick halt when I saw these babies! A piece of Sennelier I'Aquarelle is around Php 300+, so imagine if you wanna build a palete of 12 colors just how much your wallet would suffer and cry? But lo and behold, I was able to see these babies from a discarded pile of junk near the entrance! Since the box were full of packaging of folders, people did not give a sh*¥ to it. Luckily for me, my gut told me to check it out, then tadaaaaah! These babies were retailed for Php 60+ each! What's good is it fits perfectly to my existing Prima Watercolor palette 😍🖌🎨

There are more stuff that I bought, but since most of them were gifts I was not able to take a photo it. Anyhoooo, I can't wait for more book sales in the future-but then again, my reading pile is already bursting, so should I stop myself?

Duly noted, Mr. Trump
Love Always,
Nicole 😍

Shopping in Japan? Hell yes!

But just to be clear, not everything is way cheaper in Japan, you still have to have an eye for great bargains!

For our 4th day, we headed to Gotemba (or Gotenba? Ayy) to shop, or in my case to ogle 😂 so what is Gotemba Outlet? It is a place near Mt. Fuji where you can buy a lot of things at a discounted place. They have a bunch of brands, from athletic ones like Adidas and Nike, and even luxurious ones like Gucci and Balenciaga, so you'll definitely be able to find something your heart will desire.

Dramarama

"Anak, ngiti ka dali!"

YES, they have plugs for charging in their buses!!!

As I have mentioned, Gotemba is near Mt. Fuji, so from Sumida it was quite a journey going there. Since we are a big group, not everyone can fit inside the car of Imman's uncle, so we ended up commuting going there. Our first transpo was via bus going to a train station. At the train station we meet up with Imman's sister, then we hop on a train going to the bus station going to Gotemba.

I remember during our train station we got stuck in the station for 10 minutes. While I feel that this shouldn't be such a big deal, I mean helloooo here in Manila we sometimes wait for as much as 30 minutes before the train leaves, I still felt that this is uncharacteristically Japanese. Only then we found out that someone committed suicide, hence the delay!

My reaction
But what's even more shocking is how nonchalant people are about it! I suppose they are very used to this😨😨😨😨

Then after that train debacle, we finally arrived at the bus station, where we had quite the confusion on what kind of bus to line up for. In the end we were able to hop in one, and paid almost ¥ 1,900 one way going there. Yep, it is expensive! So if you are planning on going there, better to prep some serious moolah for the transpo as well.

Since going to Gotemba coming from Tokyo proper will take you around an hour or two, and usually people are recommended to go way early, it is best to bring along some food that you can munch on in the bus. If you are like me, who has serious irritable bowel syndrome, donchaworry! Their buses have toilets in them, take about convenience! They also have electric sockets perfect for charging your phone!

Oh and by the way, all the seats in the bus each are provided a map of Gotemba, as well as some coupons to make your shopping time even more superb!

Since we arrived earlier than the rest of Imman's family, and we didn't know about the toilet situation in the buses, we decided to have our breakfast at the foodcourt. Take note, the food in the foodcourt are kinda pricier, so if you don't feel like spending that much, they also have a McDonalds there. I had these yummy pancakes, because I have always wanted to try the puffy fluffy pancakes in Japan, even way back during our Fukuoka trip. The pancake is good, but not really phenomenal as I was expecting.

Pilfered from Imman

I did not take that much photos during the trip, since 70% of the time what I did is too look for people hahaha! I had the device for the wifi, so it was quite a challenge especially when members of the group want to wander to different shops on their own🤔😅😂

You see, Gotemba has 2 wings, one with the basic brands, and the other one has the luxurious ones. To go to the other wing, you will pass by this bridge, where you'll see lush greenery, and below is a river! If you are afraid of heights, don't look down, and instead think of the amazing bargains you will score!

Eventually, I was able to score some amazing trinkets from The Disney store for ¥100 a pop, and even a Cath Kidston rucksack for ¥1,600 or rounghly Php 800! But that's pretty much what I bought that day, because I wasn't fully convinced with the selection of shoes at the Adidas store in there 😧

And there you have it! Our day at Gotemba! If you are planning to go there, allot a day, and do look for other transpo alternatives, because from what I know there's also a train line going there, I'm just not sure where it is from (check nyo nalang Google, katams 🙃🙃🙃)

Love Always,
Nicole 😚

As the title obviously suggested, this is my 3rd time in the land of neon lights, and coffin apartments.

Oh and this harbor too.

As much as I want to push and continue with the Japan blogs (mej katams huhu), let me start anew with my trip to HK last January. Me and my cousin, Lot (the same crazy cousin I went with in Vietnam), booked our tickets last July-I think? I don't know why we chose HK, when she's been there more than 10x, but hey who am I to say no to travels, right?

Somebody likes pink too much.
Our flight was at 8 A.M. so we opt to go to the Terminal 3 at 4 A.M. for us to have plenty of time to gorge on the free food at the lounge facilities.

But lo and behold, it's either because most Filipinos are flying back to their respective country of work, or the service of the airport sucks, they were a lot of queues in both the travel tax counter (still smh on why Filipinos pay for this, when the tourists should be the ones to shoulder this), and especially at the immigration part. Luckily we did not miss our flights despite reaching our gate at around 8:15 A.M.- The plane left the airport at around 10! Kalokaaa 🙃🙃🙃🙃

I don't know why I look like this in the photo 🤔
Quintessential turista photo

I missed HK International Airport, but what I don't miss is not seeing McDonalds the moment you are about to leave if. Idk, but I think it has been replaced by Crystal Jade 🙅 but anyhoo, upon arrival we were greeted with the cold air, something that is non-existance in even during January in Manila.

Forlorn?
Since we will be staying at Mongkok, we took the A21 bus. Just a quick tip, make sure you have exact 33 HK dollars with you, because the bus driver doesn't give any change. I'm not sure where the other buses lead to, given that with all the times I have been in HK, I have only stayed in Mongkok because I am poor. Also, if you are not in a hurry, it's ok to take the bus, because from Lantau (the island where the airport is at) to Mongkok it will take you only an hour, so that's a good time to take a nap.

The most disappointing sale.

Huhuhu

The minions will be thrilled
After dumping our luggages into our miniscule Airbnb, we immediately wandered around the malls near to us (Hola MiraMall!). Despite it only just our 1st day in Hong Kong, I have noticed a lot of differences compared to our previous travels there:
1. Things are more expensive. I don't think this one is HK's fault, it's just that pesos has become weaker, that 1 HKD is equivalent to 7 pesos now, when a few years ago it was only 6 pesos.
2. People are quite rude. Idk, maybe I got so mellowed down by Japanese people, that the Cantonese doesn't sound as melodic as before.
3. There are more 360 mart! More Kinder Surprise eggs in every corner!

Pwede na

At night time, we ended up having dinner in Cafe de Coral, where we ate this dessert thing that tasted like Ginataan but without the bilo-bilo-which just made me sad. Afterwards we decided to watch the dancing lights at the harbor, because believe it or not, I haven't seen it before haha!

That's about it I guess? More HK posts soon - or Japan ones... bahala na😂😖👋✌🤗

Love Always,

Nicole

P.S.
Don't bring Kate Spade bags when travelling, they are too heavy for their own good 🙅🙅🙅🙅
